Anglo Japanese American (AJA) Registrars certified South Cotabato Integrated Port Services, Inc. (SCIPSI) as compliant with ISO 14001:2004 standards. After the conduct of the Audit of ISO 14001:2004 EMS last July 15, 2006, AJA certified that SCIPSI’s Environmental Management System (EMS) passed the ISO 14001:2004 upgrade standards re-certification audit. The ISO is an international body that produces and maintains industrial and commercial standards for businesses all over the world. These standards are guidelines or requirements, which businesses should conform to in order to ensure environmental management system and satisfy their customers. |

This upgrade level of certification involves not only the company but also the external contractor performing for the company which requires complying SCIPSI’s Environmental Management Systems (EMS) policy. The certification validates SCIPSI’s conformance with the standards set by International Organization for Standardization which has been adopted by leading corporations around the world. The Port of General Santos is “environment friendly” and the only ISO 14001:2004 certified cargo handling operator in Visayas and Mindanao and the fourth port operator to be so in the Philippines. More than the certification, the achievement is a result of unity, teamwork and commitment. All these made us reach our goal.

During the “Appreciation Lunch and Awarding Ceremony for BSP STAKEHOLDERS 2006” in Region X1 held at BSP Regional Office in Quirino Avenue, Davao City last Juky 28, 2006, SCIPSI received a Special Award in the “Business Expectation Survey” (BES) in Region X1. In celebration of the 13th Anniversary of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Hon. Juanita D. Amatong, Monetary Board Member of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Mr. Cesar L. Balan, Director, BSP Davao Regional Office and Mr. Pedro P. Tordilla, Jr. Managing Director, Regional Monetary Affairs Sub-Sector presented the award to Mr. Gabriel D. Muñasque, SCIPSI, General Manager. The Stakeholders’ Awards is celebrated annually to honor selected institutions who continue to provide information support to the BSP and to encourage participation by the business and financial sectors in BSP surveys. |

this year, they propose to honor once again the stakeholders who continue to support the BSP in its various statistical improvement undertakings and initiatives. These include the respondents of the BES who provide current and near-term expectations of the business sectors. The objectives for BES Respondent award is to: "Encourage regular, complete and timely submission of responses by the respondents to the BES conducted by the Department of Economic Statistics of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas". |
